OUR WORK

Supporting the
most vulnerable

Through referrals from support workers, social workers, health visitors, midwives, schools and children’s centres Mama to Mama supports the most vulnerable households in Thanet.

Mama to Mama is here for pregnant individuals, caregivers and children facing a range of challenges, including:

  • Living in poverty

  • Struggling with mental health issues

  • Fleeing domestic abuse

  • Survivors of human trafficking

  • Experiencing homelessness

  • Asylum seekers

  • Refugees

  • Leaving the care system

“Your services provide a vital role in our society, particularly for the Thanet area. As midwives we care for a very diverse population and your services have provided absolute necessities to families that would otherwise go without. Your service also helps to ease pressure on other professional services which in turn means any other families can access the care they deserve. Thank you again Mama to Mama - without you our families would be in even worse struggle”

— Jackie Sparham, Thanet Community Midwife

Quality and Dignity
in Every Donation

At Mama to Mama, we take pride in accepting only the highest quality preloved baby clothes, blankets, comforters, and equipment. Our hygiene products come from local collaborations and community donations.

We meticulously craft each care package to create a bespoke 'gift'.

Care packages are aimed not only at providing essentials but also at boosting mental wellbeing and demonstrating care and support.

Sustainability
Through Giving

Mama to Mama's mission is not just about giving; it's also about sustainability. We divert clothing and equipment from landfill, regifting these items to families in need.

The quality of our donations ensures longevity, promotes self-worth among recipients and reduces waste.

In every gift, we see an opportunity to spread hope while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

In 2022, we were able to re-home 10,560 preloved clothing items and 3,720 hygiene products which were in-kind donations.

Together with
Local Charities

We understand the strength in unity, which is why we work hand-in-hand with local charities like The Medaille Trust. By joining forces, we amplify our collective efforts to support those who need it most.

Mama to Mama is part of the Margate Early Learning Community, run by Save The Children, which promotes local connections to improve the lives of children aged 0-5 growing up in our area.

We have strong links and insight to our local community and their needs.

“Mama to Mama has provided our charity with many donations in recent months. This has included beautiful hampers for new mothers and babies, brand-new mattresses, second-hand items such as highchairs and play equipment. This has been invaluable to the modern slavery victims we support. Many of our survivors in service have limited funds and struggle to access the resources that they need for their babies. The staff and SU's are very grateful for any donations as our charity relies heavily upon this. We hope to continue working closely with Mama to Mama for many years to come.”

— Katie Hallam, Senior Service Manager, Medaille Trust

‘We will never be able to thank Mama to Mama enough for supporting us while we experienced the hardest journey of our lives. Our baby boy was born 4 months early weighing just over 1lb. Within days Mama to Mama had provided us with everything we needed for him, which took away the huge financial stress and allowed us to focus entirely on our baby in NICU.’
